Two Lizards, One June Bug, One Mouse

I spent most of my childhood with dogs in our home. Mom even owned a dog kennel in which she raised and bred dogs. We were the "free labor" and would have the duties of "scooping poop". It was worth it to have the lovable dogs around all the time. I have always had a love for dogs and am one of those crazy dog lovers who talk to dogs as they just might answer me back. There is certain comfort in the unconditional love they give you. If you move from one room to the next, they follow. They wait with noses pressed to the glass for you to return home and then do the best "happy dance" ever when you walk through the doors. I am not in the position to own a dog of my own, but often am asked by friends to watch their dogs while they leave town. My friends like the fact that they do not have to interrupt their pet's routine by removing it from their home. I a more than happy to pack my bags and house/dog sit. I spent last weekend dog sitting for a co-worker. Cooper, the black dog and Tadum, the little red dog were my new best friends. They greeted me as if I were family. If only we all were so uninhibited about making friends with strangers. They were happy to let me love them and return that love. They needed me as they couldn't feed themselves or fill their water dish. It was a lovely visit with these guys. Cooper was the wise, older, alpha dog who was always well behaved. Tadum is still young and still learning to shake bad habits. She was a rescued dog and apparently during her time alone, she became a good hunter. I found two lizards (feet and tails chewed off), one June bug and one soggy, chewed mouse on the living room floor during the three night/four day stint. Thank goodness her owner warned me of this rather gross ritual Tadum has. It was worth cleaning those critters up because she was also very loving. I'd do it again n a heart beat! Someday I'll be in the position to get a dog of my own.

That dog in the 1st picture is CUTE!!! And what lovely present they brought you! You must have really been a GOOD dog-sitter... (which I already knew!) :) I told Jasmine & Toddy before I left that all you wanted from them was their love, and that gifts weren't necessary. So I'm hoping they didn't bring you any, um, unusual gifts while I was gone!! ;)
