This is what happens when the skies open and dump over two inches in less than two hours in Arizona. I happen to be in church meetings when the thick of this storm hit. We were a bit distracted by the roar of the rain pounding the building and as soon as the lesson was finished, we did peek out the side door. The "OOOOoooo's" the "Oh my gosh" and "Holy Cow!" was not from the spiritually moving lesson, but from the almost unbelievable amount of rain coming down in Tempe. We couldn't see across the street to the apartments there. I heard one friend of mine who had to leave early had to reduce herself to pulling a garbage bag over herself to get to her car. By the time I left church, I was glad I'd volunteered to drive the Jeep. The waters were still flowing like a swift river, jamming traffic. I generally go down this freeway to get home, but obviously it was closed. We took and extra 30 minutes getting home on alternative routes up north where there was no flood damage. Pretty nuts though for Arizona!

So I had no idea they had to close the freeway... how funny-though I'm glad I didn't have to drive in it. :) The institute building had the roof cave in sometime from Friday afternoon to Saturday night. That's too bad especially since it's a new building. Less than a year old. I love the rain though! Love it!
Wow Deena...that is crazy. Where is this at? What freeway? Hope all is well! See...I read your blog!
AND... this is why my flight was canceled- and I was trapped at the airport for 1/2 the night! COOL photos!
