Day Off

What a great feeling to be able to relax in bed and not worry about
getting ready to go anywhere. It's the luxury that comes with a day off
for a holiday that fell on a Sunday. With all celebrating over with, I
now have the luxury of lounging and spending the day as I wish. So far
I've only moved three feet from my bed to my desk where I've been on my
computer talking to Brad. Since discovering this instant messenger
thing, he can now see when I wake up and log onto my instant messenger
program. So we've been chatting on a regular basis. Which this is a
very good thing since he lives on the East Coast and I here in Arizona.
I've always loved keeping in touch with friends and family and this is
just another tool. Anyone you talk to will know that I am a wordy
person when it comes to letters and emails, so this sort of thing is
certainly up my alley.

So, back to what to do with my day off. So far I've sat on-line looking
at digital cameras. I stand as one of the few without a digital camera
yet. Being a graphic designer, I really hope to get one that is top
notch, however, those come with a hefty price tag. My browsing for
digital cameras came about as I toyed with the idea to go do a South
Mountain hike workout. I've always thought it would be nice to have a
digital camera when I went out for such an activity, but never have had
one. Brad saw that I was awake and did his best to help me make up my
mind on a camera. He's always been very persuasive when it comes to
talking me into things. He does it by being helpful and finding me
deals just about within range. I almost had my mind made up to go out
and purchase a camera today, but the thought of talking to a salesman
just shut down the idea. (I'm too impatient right now to wait for one
over the internet, at least for today) To add to my shut down on the
digital camera is the overwhelming goal to purchase a new vehicle in a
few months.

I've made my 1995 Geo Prizm last for quite some time and I would think
it's still got some life still left in it. I would have to say it's
been a faithful little car. I mind was motivated to begin saving for a
vehicle when I went on my ward campout in Northern Arizona. A friend
and I traveled up after work and so it was dark by the time we got to
the primitive roads back to the camp site. We had a rough map on how to
reach the camp site, however once we reached the general area we had to
resort to the crude paper plate signs pointing us in the direction of
Ray 1st. Getting high centered and abusing my car on those roads set my
mind to saving money to get into something that would allow me to take
such trips and enjoy it rather than worrying if I was going to rip off
a gas tank or muffler going over those roads.

So these are the things that I've thus far done with my day off! I've
now talked myself out of the digital camera, for now. I'm going to
clean my room and then go out for that hike. It will feel good to plug
into the tunes in the iPod and enjoy the cool weather of the Arizona
winter. It will soon be gone and temperatures will soon be scorching
again. So perhaps the best way to take advantage of my rare day off to
myself is to do something that I can't always do.

If it is your day off as well, I hope that you have a great day and
that you too will be taking advantage of the rare time offered to you.
Have a good one!
