With the warm temperatures here in Arizona, my hike on Monday was a
warm one. There were many out taking advantage of the holiday break
and the beautiful weather. With days like that anyone would want to
become a snowbird.
It was just another day at the office. In the average day I spend
chasing or tracking down print jobs for clients, typeset here and
there, run rush film jobs for the pressmen and sometimes I get to
design something. Generally though my work is a lot of boring busy
work that I enjoy and it's way too complicated and boring to explain.
I sit in front of the computer a good part of the day, though I am up
and down running around getting answers to things and talking to
salesmen or pressmen about jobs. There is a lot of catch up work to be
done after the holidays have passed and so today there was little idle
time. All in all, it seemed like a good leg to start out the new year
on. Hopefully the new year will bring a successful year for work as
well.
Sitting at a desk leaves me time to let my mind wonder a bit as I try
to plan events that I can look forward to as little rewards to get me
through a day. There are so many places I'd like to do. I've already
got plans to head up to Utah to visit friends and family in Northern
Utah, where I consider "home". I hope to get in a day in Jackson Hole,
which I consider "heaven". Still want to go out East to catch the
coming of fall in PA. I've got friends in Oregon and Washington I'd
love to visit as well. Finding money and time to do it all seems next
to impossible, but it's nice to think about when I'm stuck in my
office without a view.
All in all, I feel it's going to be a good year, full of opportunity
and growth.
Dad, it seems like you've been in the bishopric forever. This Sunday
as you are released I'm sure you will feel mixed emotions, but the
Lord leaves little time to dwell on matters, huh? You'll be off and
running with this new calling as transient bishop. It will be neat to hear of your experiences. Nobody I've ever
talked to knows about such a calling. You are a great man and have so
much to offer. What an honor it is to be you daughter and enjoy both
sides of who you are. You'll be wonderful. Sorry you aren't in the
Primary as you dreamed. Perhaps the Lord didn't think you would share
the cookies and milk! Love ya, Dad.
