Thanksgiving in Pictures

The sacrificial mesquite wood that will be burned down to make 18" of coals for pit roasting our turkey.

Dad's fire in the turkey pit. Getting started on making the perfect coals.

Burn, baby, burn!

Still burning!

Not yet, but getting close...keep burning.

Hours of burn and here's the Pit Master (aka Dad) taking in his meal outside as to tend to the fire.

10 PM - Now it's ready for some turkey's!

Time to tuck the turkey's in for a long, cozy night in the pit. Goodnight.

Good Morning and Happy Thanksgiving. Time to uncover the pit and pull out the "fall off the bone" turkeys!

Dad begins the dugout, while I record it on camera. Don't worry, after snapping this, I helped him.

Brushing off the final layer of dirt...

Ready to be opened...

Opening of the pit. It's a two person job, and yes, those handles are hot!

Three turkeys ready to be pulled out.

Pulling the turkeys from the pit.

Dad, enjoying the fruits of his labors.

Time to carve it and eat it! Happy Thanksgiving all!
